The Metro Center is located at 1078 G St NW, just outside Washington, DC 20001. It acts as a simple link between the Red, Orange, Blue and Silver lines, so it is one of the most crowded stations in all of the Metro.
The station entrance is large and has many escalators and elevators, all contained behind glass. You can use the link to the underground concourse, where you’ll find shops, restaurants and other places to enjoy.
Metro Center Station Entrance Washington DC
The neighborhood surrounding Metro Center is full of people and things to do, any time of day. Downtown Washington DC’s Union Station is only a short step from the National Mall, the White House and other well-known attractions. Hotels, shopping centers and office buildings can be found in the area directly around Fox Plaza.
The region close to me has these unique qualities:
- Just north of the station lies the National Mall, where you’ll find the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool.
- Across the Potomac River in the east lies the White House, where the President of the United States lives.
- The Federal Triangle, a major government office center, lies to the south.
- On the western border, you’ll find Chinatown with its many Chinese shops and restaurants.
Overall, the Metro Center station entrance is a central and convenient spot for tourists to Washington DC. The surrounding area of the station is full of sightseeing and activities to do, so it’s a good place to stay or visit during your trip.

Parking at DC Metro Stations
- Availability: Depending on the station, some stations have plenty of parking while others run out quickly, especially when lots are most crowded.
- Types of Parking Available: Most Metro properties have either surface parking or parking garages. Only some stations carry a particular kind of program.
- Charge: Visitors are asked to pay for parking at nearly all Metro stations. How much you pay will depend on the parking lot and the number of hours you use it. Sometimes, stations let passengers park free of charge during holidays or weekends.
- Payment Methods: Parking payment is generally accepted using cash, credit/debit cards or apps on mobile devices. Automated payment kiosks are available in some stations, but others will need payments made to the attendant.
- Reserved Parking: A few Metro stations give customers reserved parking for a fee, so they have a guaranteed space. Usually, these spaces are found next to the station entrance and provide extra convenience.
- Accessibility: Metro stations are built to accommodate people with disabilities. Visitors with the right permit can use the accessible parking at all stations.
- Security: Though Metro parking is safe, it never hurts to use extra caution by keeping your car locked and valuables hidden.
- Alternatives to Driving: As an alternative to driving, you can arrive at many Metro stations by bus, by bicycle or on foot. Opting for these modes might make your life easier and help the environment.
- Additional Information: For specific details about a Metro station’s parking, look on WMATA’s website or give them a call.
